Item Description Abstract / Acknowledgment --- This is the source program of our PLCdelta model which shows the several patterns of astrocytic intracellular [Ca2+] oscillation. Please see the details in our paper[1]. We modified Young & Keiser model[2] and proposed PLCdelta model. When you execute the program, you can get the several patterns of astrocytic intracellular [Ca2+] oscillation[3].
The source program is the PLCdelta model which outputs the timecource of astrocytic intracellular [Ca2+] oscillation. After compiling the program, the program outputs the results in the text file.
After the execution, the file name of the results is containng the two parametervalues Gp and VPLCD. You can simulate the different patterns of [Ca2+]i oscillation by changing the two parameters.
Example) The filename of Timecourse_Gp=0.00_PLCd=1.00.txt means it contains the results when you set Gp = 0.00 micro M/sec, vPLCdelta = 1.00 micro M/sec.
In the source program, the concentarions of IP3 and [Ca2+]i are calculated by the differential equations and the equations are calculated by the 4th runge-jutta method.
In the header of the source program, the defined variables is as follows: EXTIME is the experimental duration, STEPSIZE is the time step in the runge-kutta method, OT is the output data period, RECORDTIME is the measurement start timein EXTIME, GP is the stimulus intensity by glutamate, VPLCD is the quantity of intracellular PLCδ.
In the output file, the first row shows the time, the second one shows the [Ca2+]i (micro M)、and the third one shows the concentration of IP3 (micro M).
<The method to Compile and Execute the program>
1. After downloading the zip file, at first you decompress it.
2. You copile the source file (PLCdelta_model_Ca2+-IP3_timecourse.c) by gcc program on Linux or cygwin (http://sohda.net/cygwin/) on Windows.
3. Whe you execute a.out, you can get the results.
4. You can get the results in the same directory of the progrma file.
5. If you use gnuplot program (http://t16web.lanl.gov/Kawano/gnuplot/), you can display the results on the graph.
6. After the start of the gnuplot, you put the following command, "gnuplot> plot "result.txt"using 1:2 with line" to get the graph of the astrocytic [Ca2+]i.
In addition to the main program, we also attached the source program (PLCdelte_b.c) which shows the results of [Ca2+]i, the concentration of IP3, and the possibilities of the states of the IP3R.
